Engineering Design Center (EDC) was created under an agreement between General Electric and the Institute of Aviation. Our engineers work in following areas: aircraft jet engines, gas and steam turbines, electric motors and generators, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, as well as industrial installations including pipelines, and automatics. EDC employs over 1800 engineers and is the largest engineering center in the Central Europe.

Role Summary / Purpose

The Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics Laboratory has an open position for a technician with wide interdisciplinary knowledge in the field of mechanics end electrical systems. Hired technician will be supporting following tasks: laboratory hardware maintenance, workshop organization, rig assembly, rig instrumentation, thermal and flow tests.

Responsibilities

Main tasks

  • Test rig maintenance and assembly, including pressure, thermal, chemical and electrical instrumentation
  • Component quality verification
  • Performing measurements of the electrical and non-electrical parameters
  • Performing simple test, e.g.: component flow and thermal test
  • Supporting the equipment calibration processes
  • Developing and documenting small electrical projects
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Laboratory space organization, e.g. tools, test rigs, materials/consumables , garbage removal
  • Share engineering information and promote open dialogue

Secondary tasks

  • Supporting test rig design, including CAD/CAM environment
  • Supporting the data acquisition and control systems maintenance

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Mechanical, electrical or mechatronics education
  • Good English communication skills are required

  • Skills to work in laboratory workshop (high precision in manual tasks)
