IMG_0126Since April 1st, through 8th, 22nd and finally May 13th twenty-three female students of technical faculties on their 3-5 year of study, as well as fresh graduates of such, had a chance to attend EDC Academy – a series of four technical and soft skills training sessions organized by EDC. It was a great opportunity to confront the theory gained at university with the view of real-life engineering work. All four meetings took place at the Engineering Design Center site.

Together with EDC’s representatives the girls spent four Saturdays learning and developing their skills. There were dedicated training sessions related to self-presentation, preparing for a job interview and recruitment process, with a professional photo session available for every attendee, to give not only valuable insights regarding resumes but also a professional photography to be used in formal documents.

The following sessions allowed learning more about the cutting-edge technologies used in today’s industry, with a strong focus on digital solutions, attending the fun game showing the Agile approach to project management, visiting labs and seeing the everyday engineering world, with its challenges and relations with the customer. And last but not least there was the core of EDC – the people. A discussion panel including numerous specialists from different engineering fields, representing various career paths closed the whole event.

IMG_0193EDC Academy was a follow-up of the very successful series of events for women under the brand of Women in Engineering (Pani Inżynier w Pracy) organized for the past few years, which is an initiative aimed at promoting technical faculties and engineer’s profession among women and in the areas usually thought of as typically male. The feedback was extremely positive and the atmosphere energetic and fun, so we are already thinking about the next edition in 2018.
