Engineering Design Center (EDC) was created under an agreement between General Electric and the Institute of Aviation. Our engineers work in following areas: aircraft jet engines, gas and steam turbines, electric motors and generators, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, as well as industrial installations including pipelines, and automatics. EDC employs over 1800 engineers and is the largest engineering center in the Central Europe.

Role Summary / Purpose

This opening is in Data & Analytics team. The team focus is on expanding inventory of Analytics to

optimize asset performance and fleet management. In this job, you will work with terabytes of diagnostics data (IoT) as well as maintenance records, alerting, material usage & reliability data. Your goal will be to create models in 3 areas: prediction, detection and optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver service productivity projects
  • Develop predictive maintenance (prognostics) models
  • Advise which problems to focus on, based on estimated benefits /added customer value
  • Evaluate current solutions, compare with alternatives, compose appropriate metrics
  • Analyze current models against large datasets
  • Continuously learn about the science of inventory optimization and practical challenges of supply chain management
  • Spread knowledge and understanding of new solutions within the team and communicate externally
  • Qualifications / Requirements

    • Relevant university degree (preferred at least Master of Science degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Econometrics or related field)
    • Significant experience in working as Data Scientist or Analyst
    • Strong quantitative skills (understanding of modeling, survival analysis, reliability statistics, optimization techniques)
    • Familiarity in dealing with large time series data sets (Big Data)
    • Machine and statistical learning
    • Good knowledge on statistical and analytical design and technologies: R, Python, SAS, JMP etc.
    • Knowledge of SQL, Spark or other DB & Big Data technologies
    • A business acumen and willingness to explore the wide context of each task
    • Great communication skills, experience working in a cross-functional, agile team (Github, Kanban)
    • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a highly multi-tasked environment
    • Fluent English skills both verbal and written
