Engineering Design Center (EDC) was created under an agreement between General Electric and the Institute of Aviation. Our engineers work in following areas: aircraft jet engines, gas and steam turbines, electric motors and generators, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, as well as industrial installations including pipelines, and automatics. EDC employs over 1800 engineers and is the largest engineering center in the Central Europe.

What your role will be based on? / What are your team key projects?

With this position Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Design modification of auxiliary systems on installed Gas turbines / Steam Turbines / Centrifugal Compressors. For flow projects the person will take role of System Integrator (Project Engineer + Design Engineer). He/she will interface directly with a team dedicated to the project and suppliers, developing the best solution and matching the customer needs,

Scope of work will be relevant to design of Conversion, Modification and Upgrade of GE and non-GE machines.

  • Proactive obsolete spare parts case solving for turbomachinery auxiliary systems mechanical components

You will work on

  • Be responsible for mechanical engineering activities in terms of items selection (piping components, pump, valves, structures, materials selection) for systems: oil, fuel, seal, ventilation, fire-fighting, anti-ice; arrangements of all above systems on the plant,
  • Issue of appropriate documentation: Mechanical Drawings, Layouts, Specifications, Studies, Bill of Materials (BoM),
  • Be responsible for conceptual, basic and detailed design, analysis, timely delivery, quality and compliance with contract scope and procedure, particularly on Service job where Site Surveys and reverse engineering can be necessary,
  • Be responsible for work that is less defined in scope, having the understanding and experience to execute business objectives,
  • Interface with Project Engineer or Program Manager, Testing, Sourcing, Quality and Manufacturing and with Customers and component/system vendors,
  • Coordinate and control the activities performed by external resources related to the assigned job.

What we expect from you?

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Structural Engineering or Computer Science/ Technical Diploma or Equivalent Background,
  • Understanding of technical documentation, reading of technical drawings and schematic diagrams,
  • Knowledge of mechanics, electric systems, process engineering, valves, measuring equipment using on chemical installations,
  • Knowledge of European and International standards and regulations,
  • Strong detail focus and product definition quality,
  • Very good in English

Additional skills

  • Knowledge of Turbines / Compressors auxiliary systems and instrumentation,
  • Experience in site assessments / surveys to check existing units design
  • Interpersonal skills to achieve the goals,
  • Knowledge of European and International standards and regulations (i.e. EN, API, ASME, ATEX, NEC)
