Engineering Design Center (EDC) was created under an agreement between General Electric and the Institute of Aviation. Our engineers work in following areas: aircraft jet engines, gas and steam turbines, electric motors and generators, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, as well as industrial installations including pipelines, and automatics. EDC employs over 1800 engineers and is the largest engineering center in the Central Europe.

You will work on

Person in this role will be responsible for analysis and supporting mechanical engineers to develop design solutions for discipline and cross-disciplinary engineering problems. The structural engineer will utilize geometric models and commercial software packages for analysis, design optimization and new product developments. The responsibility will also include cross-functional work to define, implement and test the solutions.

Typical work tasks and defined responsibilities in the role:

  • Technical responsible for structural engineering and work packages within subsea manifold projects.,
  • Execute and facilitate the design and analysis for assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product requirements,
  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project,
  • Technical contact point for suppliers and participate in customer interactions with the project teams,
  • Complete necessary structural design, reports and drawings for study, detail design and fabrication follow up, required for the construction of the structures.

What we expect from you?

  • MSc or BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent,
  • Experience with design and analyses of structures for operation condition,
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems,
  • Proficient in the use of ANSYS, Sesam GeniE or similar software for structural analyses,
  • Familiar with rules, regulations and code’s within the Oil & Gas industry (ISO, Eurocode 3, DNV),
  • Proven project technical leadership and team work experience.

Additional skills

  • Experienced in mechanical hardware design and development,
  • Have a good understanding of production processes for metals,
  • Strong grasp of materials,
  • Have a basic understanding of Engineering drafting techniques, geometrical dimensioning and tolerances,
  • Highly proactive and results oriented,
  • High level of curiosity and creativity combined with strong analytical and problem solving skills,
  • Ability to work systematically on your own as well as part of a team.
