Engineering Design Center (EDC) was created under an agreement between General Electric and the Institute of Aviation. Our engineers work in following areas: aircraft jet engines, gas and steam turbines, electric motors and generators, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, as well as industrial installations including pipelines, and automatics. EDC employs over 1800 engineers and is the largest engineering center in the Central Europe.

Role Summary / Purpose

GE Aviation Systems Mechanical take care of Nacelles, Aerostructures, Unison, Power and Dowty Propellers design. Due to growth of the Power Team and increase of our responsibility in an engineering process, there is a need for the Advanced Lead Mechanical Engineer for the Anti-Ice Valve Operability Bleed Valve for one of the GE Aircraft Engines applications. We are looking for people with experience in mechanical design to create the architecture of the valve together with GE Rockford which is a leader in the design, development and manufacture of valves of many types.

Responsibilities

  • Create architecture of the Anti-Ice Operability Bleed Valve using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product /program requirements.
  • Identify problems and formulate solutions; take an innovative approach to problem solving; generate alternatives & take risks.
  • Make technical decisions and take responsibility for them.
  • Convince other parties to the proposed ideas.
  • Develop and execute plans to achieve task objectives.
  • Support dedicated EPM in the master schedule creation in terms of the times of completion for particular activities and engineering budget usage.
  • Share technical knowledge with others in the group, team and across the organization.
  • Provide technical leadership & guidance to personnel supporting assigned project.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
  • Participate, lead and/or execute on specific functional &/or organizational initiatives.
  • Contribute to and participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate independence & sound technical judgment to execute on assignments.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with core technical tools, methods and concepts.
  • Lead a team or group within individual discipline.
  • Support dedicated Sub-Section Manager in terms of the appropriate resources allocation due to the engineering and business skill sets needed.
  • Qualifications / Requirements

    • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or Equivalent).
    • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to guide and influence others.
    • Significant experience in mechanical design.
    • Knowledge of the valves design/ engineering would be an advantage.
    • Experience in UG/ NX CAD tools.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (knowledge of aerospace manufacturing techniques and typical aerospace materials would be an advantage).
    • Target oriented, responsible, demonstrated strong problem solving skills, passion to learn, open mind, strong motivation.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills.
    • Ability to work with global team members across cultural boundaries.
    • Demonstrated high written and verbal communication skills, good English (reading, speaking and writing).
    • Ability and availability to travel (US/ Italy).
