Engineering Design Center (EDC) was created under an agreement between General Electric and the Institute of Aviation. Our engineers work in following areas: aircraft jet engines, gas and steam turbines, electric motors and generators, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, as well as industrial installations including pipelines, and automatics. EDC employs over 1800 engineers and is the largest engineering center in the Central Europe.

Role Summary / Purpose

Materials Technology Laboratory is an EDC laboratory focused on supporting of EDC Material Teams from all business in their activities. Activities in the laboratory are focused mainly on Failure Analysis, Material Examinations, Quality Control of components from engines, piping or other connected parts.

Laboratory is very well equipped. In the laboratory are performed: sample preparations, metallographic observation on optical and scanning microscopes, hardness measurements, Non-Destructive Testing (Penetrant Testing and Magnetic Particle Testing), roughness measurements, 3D Scanning process, chemical composition measurements ec.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and keep it ready to use;
  • Performing e.g.: sample preparation, 3D Scanning process, chemical composition measurements, hardness and roughness measurements, ect.;
  • Support for engineers in lab activities;
  • Participation in sourcing processes for the lab consumables;
  • Support of manuals preparation in chosen examination methods;
  • Participation in maintaining of ISO 17025 certificate for the lab;
  • Support in work effectiveness, quality and safety improvement

Qualifications / Requirements

  • BSc/MSc in Materials Engineering, Chemical and Process Engineering or equivalent;
  • Knowledge basics of metrology;
  • Knowledge basics of Materials Engineering;
  • Manual skills;
  • Good problem-solving skills;
  • Capability of work on multiple tasks in parallel;
  • Experience with EHS regulations is welcome;
  • Professional experience is welcome;
  • Communicative English
