Employer Description

Engineering Design Center (EDC) was created under an agreement between General Electric and the Institute of Aviation. Our engineers work in following areas: aircraft jet engines, gas and steam turbines, electric motors and generators, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, as well as industrial installations including pipelines, and automatics. EDC employs over 1800 engineers and is the largest engineering center in the Central Europe.

Role Summary / Purpose

Support of all the commercial engine lines owned by EDC – LEAP, GEnx, CFM56, CF6, P20 and GE Catalyst. Responsibility for 2D & 3D Stress & Life analyses of CDN Module components like Combustion Chamber, Structures and Fuel Nozzles.
FEM analyses are needed to support NPI, manufacturing, field, cost-out and repair projects. Complete process of FEM model preparation and solving is being performed considering: geometry preparation and simplification, mesh preparation considering shape, size and part complexity, mapping of boundary conditions, model solving and post-processing. Multiple types of analyses may be performed: static, dynamic, fracture mechanics, bolted joints, etc. Additionally there will be an opportunity to support development of new tools and procedures improving mechanical analysis.


  • Execute the FEM analysis (structural analysis, hand calculations) related to NPI design, manufacturing support, field support, cost-out, repair.
  • Evaluation of assigned individual and team projects using engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and program requirements.
  • Formulate and implement plans with guidance to meet technical requirements of assigned components and systems.
  • Support the development of the overall design/analysis plan.
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • MSc/BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
  • Experience and knowledge of disciplines like: mechanical design, FEM analysis.
  • Understanding of the design and analysis tools relevant to the function.
  • Experience with CAD/CAE package (ANSYS, Hypermesh, TPMAP, NX Siemens).
